Abstract:
The passage of the National and Community Service Act in 1990, with bipartisan initiation and support, represents a definitive moment in service-learning history wherein the federal government expressed its support for a range of volunteer, service, and service-learning programs. This visionary legislation continues to be an anchor for service-learning practice nationwide. This article provides a summary of recent policy support by the federal government.
