Abstract:
This book chapter goes into detail about the importance and value of institutionalization of service-learning on university campuses. By connecting service-learning to institutional priorities and key initiatives, the authors argue, the longer-term goals of service-learning may be met. Building on a 2004 chapter by these same authors, this chapter presents five maxims that can help service-learning directors, faculty, and practitioners secure the support of senior administrators in ways that can further the institutionalization of service-learning.
