Facing the Unsettled Questions About Service-Learning

This chapter raises seven questions in the hope of stimulating discussion and study of the essence of service-learning. The questions are: "What 'counts' as service-learning?" "Can we demonstrate the value of service-learning?" "Is service-learning accessible and appropriate for all students?" "Can campus-community partnerships for service-learning be reciprocal relationships among equals?" "Does service-learning perpetuate the status quo?" "Should service-learning be globalized?" and "Should service-learning be institutionalized?"
