Service-learning requires partnership relationships that strive for mutual benefit and reciprocity in service-learning outcomes. Recent research has captured community voices and perspectives regarding their experience of service-learning partnerships with academic institutions. This presentation shares new and often surprising findings about partners' motivations for collaborating with postsecondary institutions, their sense of benefits to students and to the community, their characterization of ideal partnership relationships, and their suggestions for strengthening those relationships. Part of the content of this presentation was supported by reports on a research study by Campus Compact and supported by Learn and Serve America.
