Abstract:
The activities of this workshop are a stand-alone lesson that is part of the Cherokee Social Studies Course "Understanding Community Using Culture." The course was developed by the Cherokee Nation Learn and Serve Curriculum Development Institute for secondary (high school) students. The lesson presents two narratives, "The Seven Clans of the Cherokee" and "Cherokee Towns Before European Contact," and then goes on to explore concepts associated with community, citizenship, and service.
