Abstract:

Community Conversations brings together members of a group, organization or neighborhood to sharpen individual insight and critical thinking through community interaction and meaningful dialogue. Conversations are focused around a shared text and a set of thought-provoking questions, encouraging participants to reflect on the issues raised by the reading and discuss how they impact our lives and our communities.

Included is an excerpt from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s speech, "The Drum Major Instinct," discussion questions, and tips for hosting a community  conversation. The toolkit can also be downloaded from the Community Conversations website.
