In this chapter, the author argues that while the field of service-learning widely shares and values Boyer's four dimensions of scholarship, including his scholarship of engagement, we tend to limit and even celebrate scholarship in publications and at professional gatherings to one dimension: research. By building on Boyer and Carnegie, this chapter discusses an integrated model of engaged scholarship, develops an argument for the transformative nature and benefits of engaged scholarship, and invites reflection on how the field of service-learning might successfully move to an inclusive conference model that values and supports engaged scholarship in all four of Boyer's dimensions of scholarship.
