Abstract:
The purpose of this chapter is to describe the method used for implementing service-learning in a biological engineering course at Louisiana State University, and to discuss the impact of this method on the students' educational experiences. Subsequent sections on instructor suggestions and reflections are included to illustrate some of the important dimensions that service-learning brings to the classroom, and to the engineering discipline.
