This chapter's objectives are to articulate the role standards play upon school-based and community-based service-learning; explain the emergence of leading guidelines and contemporary service-learning projects used to facilitate best practice in service-learning; understand the emerging trend of service-learning standards that lead to the new K-12 Service-Learning Standards for Quality Practice; recognize that standards do not need to be isolated but become interactive when crossed with others related to the service-learning project; and explain the standards praxis to quality service-learning and assessment.
