Abstract:
This chapter's objectives are to develop an understanding of the potential of service-learning to enhance awareness of diversity and diversity issues; develop an understanding of the importance of awareness of issues of diversity; learn that careful planning (including length of time engaged), implementation, and reflection in the development of a quality service-learning experience are vital for facilitating diversity awareness; recognize that the understanding of one's own culture is vital to establishing a quality service-learning program; and explore and challenge one's own existing stereotypes.
