Abstract:
When done well, service-learning is valuable for all of its participants. However, effective service-learning is not easy to implement. This article discusses the eight standards of K-12 service-learning and the body of research behind them. Developing programs based on these evidence-based indicators should provide service-learning participants with a more meaningful and effective experience.
