Abstract:
This chapter illuminates a particular partnership, what has been learned along the way, and how the partnership can be sustained. It also formulates an argument regarding the importance of creating and the need to support a type of insurgent educator who is prepared to push the disciplined boundaries of service-learning in order to work against neoliberal and alienating trends in schooling. The chapter concludes with final comments on where we are now in terms of that social distance and suggests the degree to which service-learning may or may not have revolutionary potential. [author]
