Abstract:
Service-learning in the computer and information sciences (SL in CIS) is still in its infancy. Nonetheless, there are important lessons learned to date from SL in CIS programs and projects to guide others in this practice. This chapter highlights the key lessons learned to date about SL in CIS. These lessons are derived from the chapters that appear in this book and the author's own experiences. In addition, there are a number of open issues and challenges relevant to the future of SL in CIS that are reflected upon in this chapter.
