Abstract:
This monograph provides ideas for developing reciprocal, collaborative service-learning partnerships. It features a variety of replicable examples from 16 colleges that participated in AACC's 2009-2012 national grant program, Community Colleges Broadening Horizons through Service Learning. The Horizons college projects focused on social media, environmental education, and healthy families. The monograph also includes the results of two recent AACC research studies: one found promising outcomes related to student retention, and the other (in collaboration with California Campus Compact) assessed the value of service learning to community partners.
