 Calling All Young People
State Farm The State Farm Youth Advisory Board is being established to help State Farm leadership design and implement a new $5 million per year service-learning initiative to introduce service-learning to hundreds of new schools and communities throughout the country. State Farm will select a diverse group of approximately 30 young people ages 17-20 to serve on The Youth Advisory Board, which will play an important leadership role in creating and overseeing the initiative.  Youth Advisory Board members are eligible for a $5,000 educational scholarship. Visit the National Service-Learning Partnership website for more information and application instructions. Applications must be postmarked by April 28, 2006.

 The LSA Progress Report for grantees (this is separate from LASSIE V2.0 currently being completed by your subgrantees or your organization if you do not have subgrantees), is due July 31, 2004 for the period ending June 30, 2004.
  
 The Corporation for National and Community Service seeks peer reviewers and facilitators for Learn and Serve America and AmeriCorps grant competitions this spring. If interested, If interested, visit the eGrants System page that includes a link to the 2004 Peer Reviewers and Facilitators Survey.
  
 Learn and Serve America has made approximately $3.2 million available for school-based service-learning programs. View the Notice of Funding Available Online. Awards will be made through a national competition to organizations addressing homeland security concerns. The Corporation for National and Community Service will be providing teleconferences for potential applicants for the competition.
 Project TAHS (Technical Assistance in Homeland Security) is available to provide guidance about Homeland Security activities to Learn and Serve America applicants. Call them for help at 1-800-656-3011, or e-mail them at tahs@aiweb.com. To learn more about Project TAHS visit www.projecttahs.org

All grantees who have received no-cost extensions are required to submit a progress report at this time. Your report, which should describe both programmatic and fiscal activities, is due October 31, 2003.

Deadline:  July 31, 2003
Please note that you are NOT required to complete these reports IF you intend to complete activity on your grant on or before September 30, 2003. In that case, you will be required to complete a final progress report and FSR within 90 days of the completion of your grant. That final report format will be posted on the NSLC soon as well.
If your grant period ends after September 30, 2003 or if you have requested a no-cost extension to end beyond that date, you must still submit your progress and financial report for this period.
