Description:
Students will engage in service-learning projects to improve the environment and reduce energy consumption in their school and community. As students study how to “go green,” they will recognize and describe how the activities of individuals affect the environment.
Given the many options and the flexibility built into this service-learning project, it is hoped there will be few problems identifying appropriate service-learning opportunities within this framework for students receiving special education services, similar to their nondisabled peers.
This unit is aligned with the Maryland State Curriculum.
