Description:
The students and teachers at Tully C. Knoles have access to a life lab where seasonal vegetables can be grown. We have had support from UC Davis in teaching our students about proper nutrition, the parts of a plant, and how to grow and care for vegetables. This partnership, along with parent volunteers who graciously donate their time and materials, support this learning experience. With a surplus of vegetables at harvest, the students vote to donate vegetables to one of our soup kitchens in our community. This experience builds an awareness of the donation process and shows students how to fill a need in the community.
