An intergenerational program where children spend time with residents of a local residential care facility.
Ten children from Kimball Wiles Elementary School in Gainesville, Florida visit Palm Garden of Gainesville (a residential care facility) bi-weekly in order to spend time gardening, playing cards, bowling, playing Bingo, singing and other activities with the residents. The students are in 4th and 5th grades and are accompanied by their music teacher and a parent chaperone. In addition the students recently spent two days in Tallahassee, Florida at the "Raising Your Voice for Service Learning" Conference speaking with state legislators in support of funding for Service Learning.
