St. Paul students and staff entered into a multi-age partnership between three elementary schools and a community organization called Partners for Violence Prevention. During the two day Peaceful Leaders Retreat, students discovered what it meant to be a leader and how to use their leadership qualities to create positive change in their school and community. After the retreat, the Peaceful Leaders practiced their leadership skills by teaching lessons in every classroom of their school on how to stand up to bullying, using the book, One, by Kathryn Otoshi. They provided leadership and positive modeling at school assemblies with younger students, and worked with a local artist to create visual displays depicting their work together.
