Students will learn about community and civic responsibility in an historical perspective, and will see how being a responsible person enriches their ability to be participating members of a group and society. This lesson could take up to one quarter to complete, depending on how elaborate the activities become and how many participants are involved. Tribal Elders, Yurok Tribe Departmental employees (forestry, fisheries, natural resources, education, language, JOM, etc.), parents, community members, high school students, and Humboldt State University students will be part of the presentation and discussion of the lesson. They will share the traditional Yurok world view and local community sense of "being a responsible person", share examples from their lives, talk/discuss with students examples from their (students') lives.
