Sophomores in HealthPath, a 4-year college preparatory program for students who have an interest in a career in health and/or medicine, take ownership of the knowledge they gained in their physical education class by creating age appropriate lessons for primary students in the areas of physical education, nutrition, and dental health. In groups of two or three, the students chose which area they are most passionate about and begin the quest of gathering information about how to create a lesson that will best help primary aged students grasp the concepts. These small groups basically become experts in their lesson. Each Friday for nine weeks, they travel, with their peers to a local elementary school and visit each of nine classrooms to share their expertise.
