Description:
The origin of this service-learning project came through a partnership with Eco- Prep (a nonprofit educational organization) and Freshwater Farms a local native plant nursery located on the banks of the Freshwater Creek estuary. The nursery is interested in restoring the Freshwater Creek flood plain and estuary to its historical appearance and role in the ecosystem. Freshwater Creek has been cleared and diked for agricultural use in the past 100 years. This lesson has been implemented with life science classes in grades 10-12.
