St. John Fisher College students from the Multivariate Advanced Statistics class, and from the Survey Design and Analysis class, partnered with NeighborWorks in Rochester, NY, to create and administer surveys within three different neighborhoods. As a result, NeighborWorks received useful data on homeowner needs and satisfaction for three "Healthy Block" neighborhoods. This data was used to make improvements to resident properties and increase opportunities for engagement. Data was also used to successfully obtain the "Focused Investment Strategy/Community Development and Engagement grant" through City Hall. Students learned how to create and administer a survey for neighborhood residents and conduct data analysis for a real client. Read more, including project examples.
