Reading Together, Learning Together
Jean Priest’s alternative English class partnered with a kindergarten class from Laura Macarthur elementary school for 6 weeks in a reading skills exchange. Mrs. Priest’s students first introduced the kindergarten students to Denfeld High School by giving them a tour of the building. Next they went to the elementary school and read to them and had some of kindergarteners read to them. The high school students provided activities in their gym which had a theme of healthful activities and studying our 5 senses. Lastly, the kindergarten made books on that subject which the high school students helped them write. The culminating activity was a pizza party celebration at MacArthur elementary.
