In celebration of Global Youth Service Day 2009, the Durban, South Africa (Hillcrest High School) Student Chapter of People to People International participated in a variety of projects to benefit the community. On Friday, April 24, the chapter sponsored a successful Random Acts of Kindness Day at Hillcrest High School, in which members gave small gifts to students and staff members. Chapter president Nancy-Lee Williams remarked, "Our members thoroughly enjoyed this experience and I can personally say I wish we could have given our whole school [gifts]! It not only made the person you were giving something to smile, but as I handed over a chocolate I found a smile spread across my face too." Then, on Saturday, April 25 the chapter volunteered at Horizon Farm, a farm uses horses to provide therapy for disabled children. The chapter assisted with the therapy as well as played with the children and cleaned up the farm. Finally, on Sunday, April 26, the chapter went to local car parks and handed out Easter Eggs to Car guards and people in the area. People to People International is proud of the great participation of the Durban, South Africa (Hillcrest High School) Student Chapter during its Global Youth Service Day project.
