PAWS Service
"We, the PAWS group, believe that the social problem related to animals and pets being abused, abandoned, and even being killed just because they don't have owners who will take care of them, is draining our society. Five to nine million unwanted pets are euthanized every year nationally. The problem of overpopulation of pets is currently not getting the attention it should get. We firmly believe that the problem must not be ignored anymore and thorough and practical endeavor is desperately needed. More needs to be done to help animals in need of adoption by collecting donations, fundraising cash, and working with no-kill animal shelters.
We went to the Orphans of the Storm, which is one of a very few no-kill animal shelters, and cooperated with the workers of the shelter to help the pets being cared there be adopted. We also collected items such as new or gently used animal supplies, newspapers, and food and donated them to the shelter. We plan to continue what we have been doing, helping shelters and collecting donations, and start a new action as a team: encouraging further involvement of people around us. When dealing with critical social problems, to get more people involved would always be more effective than to try to solve them all by ourselves. The PAWS group will do what we can to speak for those who can't."
