Service-Learning VIPs: Mercedes Garcia de Colorado Middle School

Students from Mercedes Garcia de Colorado Middle School in Catao, Puerto Rico created an emergency plan and prepared supplies for seniors who live in an area that’s prone to flooding. Students determined how many seniors would need assistance in the event of an evacuation, and used their sewing skills and first aid knowledge to create emergency kits. They also worked with the seniors to personalize the kids by including emergency contact lists and medication.
